- Start by visualizing a simple scene or picture in your mind, and work up to bigger things.
Exercise Number 1 – The Beach
Begin by closing your eyes and taking some long, slow deep breaths. Take at least 3 -4 breaths. Now imagine yourself walking on the beach. Try and use all of your senses and see, feel and hear things. Feel the sun on your skin, and listen for the sound of the waves. Imagine the brilliant blue water and how nice and white the sand is.
As you walk, you might even pick up some small shells or enjoy the feel of the ocean water on your feet. Taste the salt water on your tongue and enjoy the experience. Stay here as long as you like, and immerse yourself in the experience.
Exercise Number 2 – The Lemon in the Kitchen
The lemon exercise is a great one for beginners because just about everyone can imagine a lemon. Close your eyes and see yourself standing in a beautiful kitchen. Notice the colors and the design of the space.
Now walk over to the counter and notice a small cutting board with a bright yellow lemon. See if you can imagine picking the lemon up and smelling it. Notice the texture and the color of the skin.
Place the lemon back down and cut into it with a knife. You might even want to bring the lemon up to your mouth and taste the bitterness.
Immerse yourself in the experience until you can literally taste the lemon.
Exercise Number 3 – The Blank Screen
The blank screen helps you empty your mind. Imagine you are staring at a white wall or blank screen. Whenever you notice a random thought, see yourself literally erasing the thought out of your mind.
When you allow your mind to go blank, you offer no resistance, so your vibration rises naturally. You can then work on any goal you like. Make it vibrant, exciting and alive, and picture it in every little detail.
Exercise Number 4 – The Staircase
A great technique to try is counting yourself down a staircase. Try counting backward from 10 to 1, and as you do, imagine yourself descending down the stairs.
Each step down takes you to a deeper and deeper level of relaxation. Once you reach the bottom of the stairs, you can simply relax or visualize anything you like.
Exercise Number 5 – Lifetime Achievement
Another visualization exercise that works well is imagining yourself receiving an award. You could either be receiving a lifetime award or an award for a business accomplishment.
You could picture yourself up on a stage or anywhere you like. You might even prepare a short speech and imagine yourself standing in front of a crowd of people or shaking hands afterward.
Exercise Number 6 – The Clear Plastic Bag
This is a great exercise to do to rid yourself of emotional garbage. Imagine yourself standing on a cliff, high above the land. Imagine a clear plastic bag is in front of you.
Take all of your worries and concerns and place them in the bag, one by one. Take as much time as you need to do this.
Once you have literally placed everything that is bothersome in the bag, you can then toss the bag over the cliff, and watch if blow away or fall.
Exercise Number 7 – Forest Trail
This is a great exercise to do for stress relief. Imagine yourself walking on a trail in the forest. Hear the sticks and twigs crackling under your feet as you walk and smell the mustiness of the environment.
As you walk, notice how good you feel. Feel the sun on your skin and smell the flowers and plants. You could even stop and sit on a log and see what else you notice. Take as much time as you need to rest and relax.
For an added bonus, see if you can picture yourself sitting in front of a beautiful, serene lake.
